1,6-Diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene is a probe for lipid mono- and bilayers. It localizes to the hydrocarbon regions in lipid mono- and bilayers and displays excitation/emission maxima of 360/430 nm, respectively. 1,6-Diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene has been used to characterize lipid membrane dynamics in vitro and ex vivo and in the determination of the critical micelle concentrations (CMCs) of anionic, cationic, uncharged, and zwitterionic detergents.

1,6-Diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene is a membrane intercalator and hydrophobic fluorescent probe. 1,6-Diphenylhexa-1,3,5-triene intercalates into the non-polar region of lipid bilayers of adipocyte membranes with probe/membrane equilibrium affected by temperature, probe concentration, and membrane concentration. 1,6-Diphenylhexa-1,3,5-triene’s fluorescence intensity correlating with adipocyte membrane probe incorporation (Ex/Em = 350/452 nm).

体外研究

The uptake of 1,6-Diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (0-3.0 nM; 10-40 μg of protein/mL cell membrane; 10-65 minutes; 25-48°C) by rat adipocyte membranes increased with rising membrane concentration, probe concentration, and incubation temperature, exhibiting faster incorporation rates at higher temperatures and ultimately reaching a temperature-sensitive equilibrium state.
