Hemoglobin (Hb) is the main protein in red blood cells, known as the "blood protein". It is responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to tissues throughout the body and transporting carbon dioxide from tissues back to the lungs for gas exchange.
体外研究
Hemoglobin (1-50 μM, 6 hours) increases the levels of α 1-microglobulin and reactive oxygen species in HepG2 cells.
体内研究
Hemoglobin (300 mg/kg, intravenous injection 16 hours before LPS injection) can protect rats from LPS induced lethal endotoxemia.
Animal Model:
LPS induced endotoxemia rat model
Dosage:
300 mg/kg
Administration:
i.v., at 16 h before LPS treatment (40 mg/kg, i.v,)
Result:
Increased rat survival.
Showed significant attenuation of neutrophil alveolitis ( > 80 %) at 24 h after LPS injection.
Increased HO-1 expression and activity in rat lung.
