4-Methylumbelliferyl β-D-galactopyranoside is a fluorescent substrate for β-galactosidase. 4-Methylumbelliferyl β-D-galactopyranoside produces a water-soluble blue fluorescent coumarin fluorophore upon lysis, which can be used for the detection of enzyme activity.

体外研究

4-Methylubeliferyl β - D-galactopyranoside can bind to sugar specific lectin sites, compete with lactose for binding, and undergo fluorescence quenching when interacting with bitter lectin.
