(−)-trans-C75 is a isoform of C75, which is a synthetic fatty-acid synthase (FASN) inhibitor; inhibits prostate cancer cells PC3 with an IC50 of 35 μM. C75 is a potent CPT1A activator.

C75 inhibits PC3 cell growth with an IC50 of 35 μM at 24 hours. C75 (10-50 μM) also reduced the growth of LNCaP spheroids in a concentration dependent manner, with an IC50 of 50 μM[1].

(-) - C75 inhibits FAS activity and has cytotoxic effects on tumor cell lines without affecting nutrient consumption. (+) - C75 inhibits CPT1, and its administration produces aversion, indicating that central inhibition of CPT1 is essential for C75's aversion. The different activities of C75 enantiomers may lead to the development of potential new cancer and obesity specific drugs[2].

10-24 hours after intraperitoneal injection, C75 blocks fasting induced c-Fos expression in the nucleus accumbens (Arc), lateral hypothalamic area (LHA), and paraventricular nucleus (PVN). Intraperitoneal injection of 30 mg/kg body weight of C75 can inhibit appetite by ≥ 95% within 2 hours.Due to fatty acid oxidation, the weight of DIO treated with C75 decreased by 50% and energy production increased by 32.9%. C75 treatment of rodent adipocytes and hepatocytes and breast cancer cells can increase fatty acid oxidation and ATP levels by increasing CPT-1 activity, even in the presence of propionyl coenzyme A at elevated concentrations.
